Beginning today, I’m starting a regular Sunday post about something interesting I’ve found online. Well, maybe not every Sunday, but it will always be on a Sunday; hence the title Sunday Bits. It could be a product or simply commentary on another website. If it’s commentary it won’t necessarily be something that occurred that day or the previous week. However, I’ll try to keep it current and informative. My Sunday Bits may not be related to writing fiction. I realize that not everyone following me is interested in becoming a novelist. 🙂
So, here we go. My Sunday Bits inaugural post is about a cool easy-to-use facial enhancement application. It’s called PortraitPro and it’s available in Mac and Windows versions. I tried out version 12 of the Standard Edition for Windows. A free trial is also offered. The price is $49.95, which they indicate is 50% off. I was able to get a 15% off coupon code by Googling ‘portrait professional coupon 2014.’
The features include facial sculpting, skin smoothing, eye and teeth whitening, skin brightening, and eye color changes. I played around with some of the controls and noticed eye colors aren’t always changeable. I didn’t see anything indicating why that’s the case. Perhaps my eyes are too dark. At any rate, the changes were noticeable with me accepting the default changes that were applied automatically by the application. Your changes can be as subtle or as dramatic as you’d like. Portrait Professional displays a gallery of before and after photos on their website.
If you’ve wanted to enhance a portrait, but didn’t have the Photoshop skills to do it, try this application. I think it’s pretty cool and the price isn’t bad for the Standard version. There may be other less expensive or free options out there, but I fell upon this one. Two other editions, Studio and Studio Max, offer more options, including Photoshop plug-in.
I’m including my own before and after photos.
